Organizational Culture and Teams
Teams are frequently seen as a way to work smarter, to
improve quality and customer service, and to enhance productivity. But teams cannot
succeed if the ground is not prepared for them, specifically, if the corporate culture is
not propitious. An analysis of four types of teams and also the key dimensions or
"drivers" of a corporation's culture should help managers determine whether
teams are likely to succeed in their companies.

Division of Labor, Efficient? Empirical Evidence to Support
the Argument
Beginning in 1989 the United States Air Force, in an effort
to spread a smaller workforce over a still demanding mission, sought to consolidate a
number of aircraft maintenance skills. This paper studied and captured a time-phased
inverse correlation between the effectiveness of aircraft maintenance and the extent to
which the Air Force implemented this skill consolidation. As the Air Force integrated
skills, their aircraft fleet performed more poorly - thus documenting support for the
efficiencies that accrue from the division of labor.

Reengineering Partnerships: Process Intervention in
Strategic Alliances
While any reengineering intervention in a single organization
is an ambitious undertaking, the process is obviously more complicated when more than one
organization is involved. Drawing on a case study of a reengineering-related alliance
between a product based computer network firm and a service-based manufacturing company,
this article focuses on the various strategies and processes associated with building a
long-term, sustainable relationship between two organizations.

A TechnologyContingency Framework for A
Productivity-Oriented Workforce Diversity
It is possible to propose an economically logical framework
for diversifying the workforce in corporate America. The framework proposed within this
article identifies, a priori, the types of corporations that would benefit the most from
diversification and those that would be least served by it.

The Internet: A Key Tool for Today's Human Resource
Professional
Tired of telephone tag. Whether needing to improve internal
or external communications, today's human resources professionals cannot afford to ignore
the Internet. E-mail, features such as history and newsgroups can enhance your own
productivity while helping you keep up with four field. Many Web sites are targeted at HR
personnel. The question is not whether to enter cyberspace, but when.
